What is a Bredele?
Bredele literally means "little biscuits" in the Alsatian dialect. Today, this name represents the traditional Christmas biscuits that have been (and continue to be) developed: dozens of types of "little biscuits" in different shapes and flavours. Their recipes are passed down from generation to generation, and Alsace families all look forward to the annual ritual of making them in the run-up to Christmas! This is why you’ll find them in abundance on Chrismas market stalls and in stores during traditional festive celebrations…

Our range of traditional Christmas biscuits
The extraordinary diversity of Bredele recipes and their shapes stand testament to the wealth of Alsace's culinary heritage. In addition to the traditional Bredele butter biscuits, our Maison has added an exclusive product of our own creation to the traditions: Bredele Moelleux. With its generous almond paste and creamy texture, this new speciality was instantly a hit with customers who had already been won over by our initial specialities.
That's why we're offering you the chance to (re)discover our Spritz, Marbré Damier, Anisbredele and Linzer for our Bredele butter biscuits. When it comes to the Moelleux (soft bredele), the Liabsti and Siess g'nuss are the epitome of the authentic Alsace experience in a delicate yet delicious style.
Why choose Maison Alsacienne de Biscuiterie for your Bredele?
All year round, our bredele are made in our Colmar Atelier. It all starts with a demanding selection process for the ingredients that we use in our recipes, and continues up to the choice of the most appropriate production method, whether it's traditional or modern. Each step of the process is equally important, well represented by the nut delicately placed on top of a bredele, for example. Lastly, the biscuits are hand-packed into our luxury tins and sachets, always with the utmost care given to the product.
These methods are passed on between the generations of our Maison's pâtissiers, guaranteeing respect for Alsace traditions and the exceptional quality of our bredele.
